Director and choreographer. He participated in December 2009 of the celebrations of 50 years of butoh in Bangkok, Thailand, leading workshop and performing the show “Venezhvela”.

 In 2010 he returned to Asia to honor Kazuo Ohno in the 3rd Nyoba Kan Butoh Festival in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and to take part in the  6TH International Butoh Thailand Festival in Bangkok.

João is considered the greatest exponent of Latin American butoh dance and one of the greats of world Butoh.

Founder and director of the Ogawa Butoh Center. He developed numerous solo works with his Company, which many are still part of the repertoire.

He has participated in various events as actor/dancer and Maitre of Butoh in Thailand, Malaysia, Germany, Portugal, England, United States, Australia, Argentina, Mexico, Ecuador and Brazil.
